Just got back from my tour of the IMG London Offices. It was so cool and definitely reminds me why I am a Sport Management major. For a little background info on IMG, IMG is a global sports, fashion, and media business that connects brands to global opportunities. IMG is a massive company, operating in over 30 countries. IMG works with the best clients: Federer, Nadal, Maria Sharapova, Tiger Woods, Cam Newton, Ian Thorpe (Australian swimmer), Justin Timberlake, and so many more!
The day started off with a delicious breakfast provided by IMG. They were so hospitable and welcoming! There was then a series of six different speakers, with a lunch in the middle. The first speaker was Jonathan Cocke, SVP of Events and Federations. Mr. Cocke explained in detail the structure of IMG and of the Events and Federations segment of IMG.The second speaker was Kate Johnson (a University of Michigan grad!) who is the Director of consulting for the Olympics. Kate's job is to work with sponsors of the Olympic games and build their Olympic marketing strategy. The third speaker was Fraser Wright, client manager for the tennis sector of IMG. Fraser's job is to represent their tennis clients such as Federer and Nadal. Following this presentation was a quick lunch, and then back to more speakers. The next speaker was Guy Kinning's. Guy is the SVP/co-managing director for the golf sector of IMG. Guy is in charge of everything golf at the company. The fifth speaker was Jean Cooke. Jean is the Vice President of Licensing and the Retail and Merchandising Director for the Wimbledon Shop. This looks like a very cool job and you can get some great Wimbledon merchandise like towels or tennis bags. (Hopefully I'll have time to go to Wimbledon later this week and buy a little something). The last speaker was John Hollywood. John is the Director of Production for IMG Media.
The last bit of this was a very brief tour of the offices. In the end, this day was amazing and showed me what a future career could look like for me. The rest of today is free and should be lots of fun!
